Ocean Press is a Melbourne-based, independent, international book publisher with list of Spanish and English titles on Latin America
Ocean Press is an independent, international publisher of books offering a radical global vision of politics and history in English and Spanish. From the start, Ocean Press developed a particular focus on voices from Latin America, a continent that has always been in the forefront of resistance to colonial exploitation and neoliberalism in defense of national sovereignty and independence. Since 2006, books published under our Spanish-language imprint Ocean Sur have been available in Spanish throughout the entire Americas.

In 2001, Ocean Press and the Che Guevara Studies Center (Havana) initiated the Che Guevara Publishing Project with the objective of disseminating the works and ideas of Ernesto Che Guevara, one of the most internationally renowned revolutionaries and Marxist thinkers. Subsequently, Che’s Motorcycle Diaries, the book of Walter Salles’ popular movie of the same name, became a New York Times bestseller.
Other highlights of Ocean’s list of more than one thousand books, pamphlets, and magazines include works by Roque Dalton, Fidel Castro, Armando Hart, José Martí, Salvador Allende, Haydée Santamaría, Nidia Díaz, Tomás Borge, Pablo Neruda, Fabián Escalante, Frei Betto, Camilo Torres, Miguel D’Escoto, Hugo Chávez, artist Osvaldo Guayasamín and photographers Alberto Korda and Tina Modotti.
In 2021, Ocean Press announced a partnership with Seven Stories Press (New York) for the promotion and distribution of Ocean titles in English and Spanish (including bestsellers such as Motorcycle Diaries and Che Guevara Reader) in North America and around the world.
